What is cast alloy C276

C276 (Hastelloy C276) C276 is a high-performance nickel-molybdenum-chromium-based corrosion-resistant alloy.

Its material properties and applications are as follows: Material Composition: Main Components:

Nickel (Ni): Approx. 57% (balance)

Molybdenum (Mo): 15%~17%

Chromium (Cr): 14.5%~16.5%

Trace Elements:

Iron (Fe): 4%~7%

Tungsten (W): 3%~4.5%

Cobalt (Co): ≤2.5%

Carbon (C): ≤0.01%

Silicon (Si): ≤0.08%

Manganese (Mn): ≤1%

Phosphorus (P): ≤0.025%

Sulfur (S): ≤0.01%

Core Properties: Excellent Corrosion Resistance:

Resistant to Chloride Ion Corrosion: High molybdenum and chromium content makes it one of the few materials capable of withstanding corrosion from moist chlorine gas, hypochlorites, and chlorine dioxide solutions.

Resistant to Chloride Salt Solutions: Exhibits significant resistance to high-concentration solutions of ferric chloride and copper chloride. Resistance to Oxidizing/Reducing Media:** Exhibits excellent performance in both oxidizing and reducing conditions, resisting pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

Resistance to High-Temperature Acid Corrosion:** Suitable for high-temperature environments containing impurities in inorganic acids (such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid) and organic acids (such as formic acid and acetic acid).

High-Temperature Stability:
Melting point approximately 1371℃; maintains excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength even at high temperatures.

Resistance to Grain Boundary Precipitation:
Does not readily form grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, suitable for most chemical process applications.

Physical Properties:
Density: 8.9 g/cm³

Elastic Modulus: 205 GPa (21℃)

Tensile Strength: ≥601.2 MPa

Yield Strength: ≥204.8 MPa

Elongation at Break: ≥56%

Applications: Chemical and Petrochemical:

Components and catalytic systems in contact with chloride-containing organic compounds.

Reactors for acetic acid and acidic products; sulfuric acid condensers.

Organic chlorination process equipment, such as digesters and bleaching vessels.

Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD):

Scrubbers, reheaters, wet steam fans, etc.

Oil & Gas:

Components in contact with acidic gases, such as pipe and stack linings.

Pulp & Paper:

Cooking and bleaching vessels, resistant to high concentrations of chloride ions and acidic media.

Environmental Protection:

Equipment and components in corrosive seawater environments, such as ship and offshore platform parts.

Aerospace:

Manufacturing aerospace components, engine parts, etc., utilizing their high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance.

Processing & Welding:
Welding performance: Requires controlled low heat input, interpass temperature not exceeding 120°C, and narrow weld bead technology to avoid grain boundary precipitation in the heat-affected zone.

Processing Difficulty: Due to complex composition, processing is difficult and requires specialized equipment and technical support.
