What material is used in oil well casing

Oil well casing is primarily made of steel, with different grades of steel corresponding to different well depths and operating conditions.

The following are the main material types and their characteristics:

Common Materials

N80 Steel Grade: Widely used in oil well casing, it offers high strength and corrosion resistance, and features a special threaded connection design to accommodate complex well conditions.
J55 Steel Grade: A medium-to-low strength steel grade suitable for shallow- to medium-level oil and gas wells, complying with API standards.
TP110T Steel Grade: A new steel grade made of 27MnCrV alloy steel, offering higher strength and suitable for deeper oil and gas well development.

Special Requirements

Corrosion-Resistant Materials: Some casing requires stainless steel (such as OCTG products) to meet the requirements of corrosive environments.
P110 and above High-Strength Steel: Suitable for ultra-deep wells, it requires specialized production processes (such as rough pipe production and helium seal testing) to ensure reliability.
Different materials must be selected based on parameters such as well depth, formation pressure, and temperature, and production testing must comply with API specifications.

Of course, wellhead equipment is basically made of castings, with sand castings being the majority. Currently, Mulan Metal has served many oil exploration customers in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Dubai, helping them complete the production and processing of castings for various wellhead equipment, and has received unanimous recognition. We look forward to your cooperation and consultation.
